Chinacoal's profits soar 91 pct in Jan.-July

    China Coal Energy Co., Ltd. (601898.SH,1898.HK) realized gross profits of 7.2 billion yuan in January-July,2008, soaring 90.6 percent year on year, according to unaudited datareleased by the company Tuesday.


    Its operating turnover in the period reached 47.1 billion yuan, up 49.7 percent year on year.


    Chinacoal exported 10.517 million tons of coal in the January-July period of this year, making up 19.4 percent of its coal sales in the same period.


    The company's total coal sales in the period amounted to 54.251 million tons, up 12.4 percent year on year. Of the total, 43.712 million tons were sold domestically, up 20.4 percent.


    The company's output of main products grew rapidly in the period.


    Among them, the coal output reached 57.489 million tons, an increaseof 10.7 percent over the same period of last year, of which self-produced coal accounted for 53.416 million tons, up 11.8 percent; coke output, 2.487 million tons, up 33.7 percent; the production ofcoal mining equipments was 131.00 tons, up 16.2 percent.
