Sinopec Tianjin refinery under 45-day overhaul from Aug. 28

    Sinopec Group, parent company ofSinopec (600028.SH; 0386.HK; SNP. NYSE), announced Wednesday that it plans to overhaul its Tianjin refinery, which has a daily crude processing capacity of 100,000 barrels, for a period of 45 days fromAug.28.


    One of the catalytic cracking units will be first shut down and other facilities including two distillation units and two hydro-cracking units will be closed soon after, the announcement said.


    Sinopec earlier planned to expand the refinery, and has signed a joint-venture agreement with Saudi Basic Industries to build acomplex involving investment of 2.5 billion US dollars. The project, designed to start production in 2009, will form annual capacity of around 4 million tons.
