China Coal Energy output up 10 % in Jan-Aug

    China Coal Energy Co. Ltd, the country's second-largest coal miner by revenue, Wednesday announced it produced 66.57 million tons of coal during the first eight months this year, representing a year-on-year growth of 10%.


    Its total sales of coal climbed 9.1% from the previous year to 60.21 million tons in the Jan.-Aug. period.


    Of the total, it sold 19.06 million tons of coal in the domestic market, up 19% from a year earlier and coal exports amounted to 11.13 million tons.


    On Thursday, its parent China National Coal Group announced its coal output rose 9.1% from a year earlier to 76.03 million tons for the first eight months.


    The group said its operating revenue rose 48.1% year-on-year to RMB 54.23 billion, and its overall profits soared 74.8% to RMB 8.66 billion for the period, without specifying whether the figure indicates net or gross profit.


    On Wednesday, A-shares and H-shares of China Coal Energy fell 4.11% and 5.35% to RMB 10.71 and HK$12.04 respectively.
