Chalco to build up aluminium smelter project in Saudi Arabia

  China's top aluminium producer Chalco (601600.SH; 2600.HK; ACH.NYSE) will join hands with Malaysia's MMC and Saudi Arabia's Binladin Group for a 1 million ton/year of aluminium smelter plant in Saudi Arabia.


   Chalco will take a 40 percent stake in the 3-billion-dollar project, while MMC and Binladin take 20 percent stakes respectively. And other investors in Saudi Arabia will share the remaining 20 percent stake.


   Feasibility study of the project is expected to complete by the end of this year. And Construction on the project will be divided into three phases using Chalco's technology and equipment, the company said.
