Spain's Atlantic Copper, part of Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc., said on Wednesday it aimed to produce 285,000 tonnes of copper anodes in 2008, up from 260,000 in 2007.
"We are running at a good pace," President Javier Targhetta told Reuters in an interview.
Anodes are basic copper blocks that are later refined. In 2008, Atlantic Copper aims to produce 255,000 tonnes of refined copper, in the form of cathodes, up from 244,000 tonnes in 2007.
Last year, production of copper cathodes was hit by a 23-day maintenance stoppage, but this year production should run at full capacity, Targhetta said.
