18 Bln Tons Coal Reserve Added

It is learned that, in 2007, Xinjiang newly discovered 45 mineral deposits of coal, iron and copper. Among which, the newly proven coal reserve was over 18 bln  tons, offering solid foundation for Xinjiang's new type industrialization.


Xinjiang, as one of the main mineral prospecting areas and resource strategic relay areas, has attracted over 20 big enterprises and groups in and out of China,  including Shenhua and Luneng to settle down and engage in mineral exploration and development. Merely in coal industry program, the investment has reached  over 100 bln Yuan.


In order to increase the proven reserve of mineral resource and promote the new type industrialization, since 2007, besides the central finance support, Xinjiang  decided to earmark 50 mln Yuan every year for prospecting the mineral resources in whole Xinjiang.
