China's copper price in second half of April went down 6.1 percent to 66,010 yuan/ton from a year ago and 1.4 percent less than a month early, according to China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC).

However, the copper price rose on the fluctuating international market during the same period.

Statistics show that China's import of copper ore concentrate in March dropped 37.7 percent from a year ago.

The International Copper Study Group (ICSG) predicted that there would be a surplus of 85,000 tons of copper ore concentrate worldwide this year, which will add to the pressure on China's copper price.
