China's energy balance is facing more pressure upon expansion of energy-guzzling industries and heavier reliance on energies import, said Zhou Dadi, vice director of China Energy Research Society.

China's energy-guzzling industries keep fast expansion in the Jan. - Apr. period with crude steel output up 9.1 pct y-o-y to 170 mln tons and steel products output up 12 pct to 193 mln tons.

Consequently, domestic output of energies soared during the period with coal output up 14.4 pct, hydropower output up 14.1 pct and coke output up 13.1 pct.

Meanwhile, crude import increased by 9.8 pct y-o-y to 54.45 mln tons and oil products import also grew by 9.2 pct to 11.62 mln tons.

Due to the high-level crude price, China in the first four months paid billions of US dollars more for crude and oil products imports, with 22.3 bln US dollars for crude import, a surge of 80.8 pct over the same period of last year and 4.86 bln US dollars for oil products, a jump of 78.6 pct year on year.
