China to boost gold output to 300 tons

   China is predicted to produce 300 tons of gold in 2008 to become the largest gold producer in the world, according to Hou Huimin, deputy director of China Gold Association.


   The country last year produced 270.5 tons of gold, slightly lower than South Africa's 272 tons, ranking second in the world.
