China produced 84.039 tons of gold in January-April of 2008, an increase of 6.285 tons or 8.08 percent over the same period of last year, according to China Gold Association.

     Of the total, 23.395 tons were produced in April.

     Statistics show that gold enterprises in China realized gross output value of 36.9091 billion yuan in the first four months of this year, up 82.18 percent. It included 11.188 billion actualized in  April.

     In the first four months, China's gold enterprises produced 67.  171 tons of mineral gold (including finished gold and content gold),   up 6.94 percent year on year. Of the total, 21.86 percent were produced in Shandong, 11.13 percent in Henan, 8.28 percent in Fujian, 4.34 percent in Liaoning, 4.21 percent in Shaanxi, 3.82 percent in  Inner Mongolia, 3.40 percent in Guizhou, 3.38 percent in Hunan, 3.13  percent in Gansu, 2.68 percent in Yunnan. The above-mentioned key gold producing provinces and regions made up 66.23 percent of the nation's gold output.

     Meanwhile, nonferrous metal and gold smelting enterprises in China produced 42.949 tons of finished gold, up 6.43 percent year on year.  Among them, nonferrous metal smelting enterprises produced 17.695 tons of finished gold, up 7.77 percent year on year; and gold smelting enterprises produced 25.254 tons, up 5.51 percent.
