China's raw coal output up nine pct in May

BEIJING, June 16 - China’s output of raw coal reached 212.89 million tons in May, an increase of 17.64 million tons or nine percent year on year, according to statistics from the State Administration of Work Safety (SAWS).
Of this, 111.14 million tons were turned out by key state-owned coalmines, rising 11.50 million tons or 11.6 percent year on year; 30.10 million tons by local state-owned coalmines, up 1.68 million tons or 5.9 percent; and 71.65 million tons by township coalmines, up 4.46 million tons or 6.6 percent.
Total output of raw coal was 992.27 million tons in the first five months of this year, increasing 95.67 million tons or 10.7 percent year on year. Included were 553.53 million tons by key state-owned coalmines, up 12.4 percent year on year; 132.71 million tons by local state-owned coalmines, up 7.0%; and 306.04 million tons by township coalmines, up 9.2 percent.
The three sectors accounted for 55.8 percent, 13.4 percent and 30.8 percent of the country’s total output of raw coal in the end of May respectively.
At the same time, China’s major ports delivered 47.664 million tons of coal in May, increasing 8.056 million tons or 20.3 percent year on year.
Included were 41.94 million tons for domestic trade, up 18.7 percent; and 5.719 million tons for foreign trade, up 34.2 percent.
The ports completed shipment of 220.97 million tons of coal in January-May, jumping 18.4 percent year on year.
Of this, 199.817 million tons were for domestic trade, up 20.2 percent year on year, and 21.153 million tons for foreign trade, up 3.3 percent.
