Deccan Gold Mines Ltd expects to get some of the 25 mining licences that are likely to be approved by the government by the end of the year, Managing Director Sandeep Lakhwara told television channel NDTV Profit.

"I believe that even if we get a half dozen of those through, that would be a huge progress..we are talking both at the state and the central level and are reasonably optimistic about the outcome," Lakhwara said on Monday.

The company is currently focusing on either acquiring or forming joint ventures for projects outside India, especially in countries in the African continent and Australia, he added.
