NDRC of China confirms approval of two coal-to-oil projects only

    China's top economic planner, the National Development and Reform Commission, confirmed Thursday that it has given go-ahead approval only to two coal-to-oil (CTO) projects and all other CTO projects should be stopped.


    One of the approved CTO project is the direct coal liquefaction project of Shenhua Group in Ordos of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, North China. Its construction has already started.


    The other project is the Ningdong indirect coal liquefaction project jointly undertaken by Ningxia Coal Industry Group Co., Ltdand Sasol Ltd., SSL. It is still at the stage of feasibility study and has to go through related project approval procedures after completion of the feasibility study.


    The information has earlier been announced by the Development and Reform Commission of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region on its website.
