China's leading coal producer Shanxi Province is streamlining coalmine enterprises by way of mergers, reorganizations and closures, rectifications of mine enterprises.

This North China's province plans to limit the number of coal enterprises within 300 and coalmines within 1500 by the end of 2010.

The provincial government recently held a meeting raising the curtain to the coalmine enterprises' merger and reorganization.

The meeting noted that the healthy development of coal industry required the province comprehensively pushed forward the mergers, reorganizations and closures, rectifications of mine enterprises and coal-coke special anti-corruption campaign.

The meeting decided to form two to three mega enterprise groups, with annual capacity of 100 million tons, and three to five large enterprise groups, with an annual capacity of 50 million tons. The coal production of large enterprises will amount to more than 75 percent of the province's total, so as to fundamentally change the present unreasonable coal production pattern.
