China's average coal export price up 99.4 pct in August

    The average price of coal exported by China in August this year reached 1,275.12 yuan/ton, soaring 99.4 percent year on year, according to the trade data released by the General Administration of Customs on Wednesday.


    Statistics shows that China exported 33.64 million tons in January-August, up 0.3 percent; the export value surged 75.6 percent to 3.51 billion US dollars from two billion US dollars a year ago; and the average export price rose from 59.6 US dollars/ton a year ago to 104. 4 US dollars/ton. Of the total, the export in August was 3.37 million tons, down 28 percent year on year.


    In the eight months, China imported 28.68 million tons of coal, down 18 percent year on year, with the import price averaging 75.8 US dollars/ton, up 64.9 percent.


    According to customs statistics, China exported 9.68 million tons of coke and semi-coke in the period, down 5.7 percent; but the backed up by the strong rise of export price, the export value swelled 1.4 times from 1.82 billion US dollars in the year-earlier period to 4.36 billion US dollars, with the average export price growing 154 percent year on year from 177 US dollars/ton to 450 US dollars/ton.
