Petrobras's monthly domestic oil production reaches record high

Brazil's state-owned oil giant Petrobras said Tuesday that its monthly domestic production set a new record in August, with its average daily output reaching more than 1.88 million barrels.
This represents a 1-percent increase over July and a 4.3-percent rise over the same period last year. The previous monthly record was 1,867,336 barrels per day.
The oil giant's domestic natural gas production reached 52.7 million cubic meters per day in August, up 22.5 percent from the same period last year and 0.9 percent over July.
The company's total production (oil and natural gas, in Brazil and abroad) reached 2.44 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, up 5.3 percent from last August and 0.9 percent over July this year.
In August, Petrobras' oil and natural gas production abroad reached 225,563 barrels of oil equivalent per day, roughly the same as in July. The oil production abroad reached 124,254 barrels per day, up 4.3 percent from July. The natural gas production abroad totaled 17.2 million cubic meters per day, roughly the same as in July and down 13.5 percent from August 2007.
