The average price of China's coke export in July reached a new record high of 515.6 US dollars per ton, up 1.6-fold on year and 3.4 percent on month, according to China's General Administration of Customs.

Customs statistics show China exported 833,000 tons of coke in July after peaking at 1.663 mln tons in May, down 14.7 percent on year and 44.4 percent on month.

The total coke export amounted to 8.272 mln tons in the first seven months of this year, down 8.3 percent on year, with the export value at 3.58 bln US dollars, up 130 percent on year. The average export price grew by 1.5-fold on year to 432.3 US dollars per ton.

Statistics also show that 53.2 percent of the total coke exports went to the United States, Brazil and Japan in the first 7 months, and 79.9 percent of the exports came from exporters in Shanxi and Beijing.

It is estimated that the annual coke export volume this year willbe controlled within the export quota for previous years, on account of the high export tariff of 40 percent as from August 20 and limited coke export quota of 12.01 mln tons. The second batch of export quota for 2008 was 75 percent less than that of the first batch.
