China October Coal Output 270M Tons, Up 21.1% On Yr

China produced 270 million metric tons of coal in October, up 21.1% on year, the National Bureau of Statistics said Wednesday.


The country's coal output in the January-October period totaled 2.42 billion tons, up 11.4% on year, according to the data.


China produced 31.52 million tons of coke in October, up 41.7% on year, while coke output for the first 10 months of this year totaled 285 million tons, up 4.8%.


Electricity generation in October rose 17.1% on year to 312.1 billion kilowatt-hours, the bureau said, with electricity produced by coal-fired power plants up 20.8% at 256.1 billion kWh and hydroelectricity generation down 4.0% at 43.6 billion kWh.


That brought power output in the first 10 months of this year to 2.963 trillion kilowatt-hours, up 3.2% on year.
