China to basically complete mineral resource integration by 2008

China plans to complete integration of more than three kinds of major minerals and more than five key mining areas by the end of this year, and basically finish the integration of mineral resources by 2008, according to proposals on further promoting and standardizing the integration of mineral resources put forward by the Ministry of Land and Resources.
Since 2005, various regions of China have carried out integration of major mineral resources including coal under the request of the State Council for carrying out all-round rectification and standardization of development order of mineral resources.
The new round of mineral resources integration covers coal, iron, manganese, copper, aluminum, lead, zinc, molybdenum, gold, tungsten, tin, antinomy, rare earth, phosphorus and sylvite, as well as other minerals, which have big influence on economic and social development of the areas.
The integration and rectification will concentrated on small mines, and mines in weak geological conditions, and with outdated mining methods and technology, and low level of utilization of resources, and mines which cannot meet the designing requirements for a long time, and are low in management level, and poor in safety production, and social and environment efficiency.
