China to adjust export tariffs on high energy-consuming products

   China will adjust import and export tax ratio on high energy-consuming products, polluting products and natural resources starting from June 1, according to the Ministry of Finance.


   Altogether 142 items of products are involved in the tariff adjustment.


   The tariffs for more than 80 steel products are expected to rise 5-10 percent. Included are low carbon steel wires, plate and shaped steel.


   China will imposes 10 percent of tariffs on natural graphite, rare earth metals, refined lead, dysprosium oxide, terbium oxide and some non-ferrous metal wastes and scraps; and 5-15 percent on ammonium metagungstate, molybdic oxide, ammonium molybdate, sodium molybdate and magnesite.


   It will raise export tariffs from 10 percent to 15 percent on nickel, chromium, tungsten, manganese, molybdenum and rare earth metals; and export tariffs from 5-10 percent to 10-15 percent on coal tar, ferroalloy, unrolled zinc, fluorite and non coniferous timber.
