There is little possibility for China to further up adjust steel export duty in short term despite of the rebound of steel export, according to analysts here.
China's steel export obtained constant rebounds in March, April and May. The steel export in June continued the rebounding trend, and is likely to hit a new high of this year.
China exported more than 5 million tons of steel products on record in May. However, its export was only 3.107 million tons in February due to constant climb of export duty after 2007.
Liu Yuan, an analyst with Mysteel.com believed that constant growth of China's steel export is due to the gap between domestic and international prices.
Liu pointed out that the growth of international steel price is higher than that in the domestic market. Despite of the hike of export duty and freight charges, Chinese steel exporters can still make profits.
Liu predicted that China's steel export is to keep at a high level in the rest of the year.
Zhang Ping, an analyst with Umetal.com said that new steel export policy would probably be launched in July or August.
But he said that the core of China's foreign trade this year is not just cutting export but adjusting structure.
Under such background, China's steel export policy will not undergo big change but moderate adjustment, according to Zhang.
