China is improving a plan on the adjustment of fuel oil taxation and will launch the fuel tax at the right time, said Zeng Xiao'an, deputy director of the economic development department of the Ministry of Finance.

"Fuel tax will come out if crude price stands at a stable level and oil products pricing system is market-oriented," added Zeng.

To reform fuel tax, the Chinese Government in 2001 started to levy tax on auto purchase, and the next step is to replace road toll with fuel tax, said Zeng.
