Chinese Customs suggested in a latestreport levying additional provisional export tariff on cement inlight of the rebound of cement export in Jan-May.

Customs statistics show that China's cement export came to 12.81million tons in the first five months this year, valuing at 500million US dollars, up 10.5 percent and 4.5 percent year on yearrespectively.

In May, China's cement export reached 2.969 million tons, valuingat 120 million US dollars, down 3.8 percent and up 16 percent year onyear respectively.

To be pointed out, China's cement export has showed a generallypicking-up trend this year in contrast to the month-by-monthdeclining trend after July last year.

After a temporary drop to 2.049 million tons in April, China'scement export climbed to 2.969 million tons in May from 2.417 milliontons in January, and set a nine-month record in export volume in May.

An analysis of Chinese customs said that China's cement enjoys aprice advantage in international market due to the price control onwater and electricity supply and exclusion of environmental cost fromcement production.
