China is likely to lift coke export tariff in the rest of the year, according to the China Coking Industry Association (CCIA).

Coke is one of the most important raw materials for steel industry.

China has taken more than 60 percent of the global coke tradingvolume.

Xu Xiangchun, a steel industry expert, said that to raise coke export tariff would definitely benefit China's steel industry.

However, although the move will reduce coke export, the effect canonly take place in the short term, as the export will go up again when the international market accepts higher price, said Wang Ling, a coke industry analyst.

According to Xu, to maintain steel industry's advantage through imposing tariff is actually protecting backwardness, which impactsthe development of China's steel industry in the long term.

Xu called on coke and steel industries to further enhance industrial concentration and strengthen integration force so as to survive the international market.
