Global daily production of primary aluminium remained almost flat in July at 102,500 tonnes against 102,300 tonnes in June, according to statistics published by the International Aluminium Institute.

Overall aluminium production in July rose to 3.18 mln tonnes against 3.07 mln tonnes in June, it added. June's figure is artificially depressed by the lower number of days in the month. China, the world's biggest producer of the metal, upped its overall aluminium production in July to 1.073 mln tonnes from 1.034 mln tonnes the previous month. In the first seven months of 2007, global daily average production of primary aluminium rose by 12 pct to 100,000 tonnes against 89,200 tonnes in the same period of 2006, the IAI added. Overall production in the period rose to 21.2 mln tonnes from 18.9 mln in 2006.
