Founded in 1982, China National Chemical Equipment Corporation, at the beginning of its establishment, incorporated the equipment businesses of Science and Technology Bureau, Machinery Manufacturing Bureau and Supply Bureau of the former Ministry of Chemical Industry. It had been subordinated directly to the former Ministry of Chemical Industry before 1998 and has being subordinated to the Word Committee of the China Central Large-sized Enterprises as a state-owned individual investment company since 1999.

In the 1980s, CNCE was mainly engaged in administrative management entrusted by the Central Government for the chemical machinery & equipment manufacturing industry in China. In the 1990s, CNCE formulated an overall development strategy characterized by integration of scientific research, industry and trading to confront with China's economic system reform and the fluctuating and competition driven market. After a decade of unremitting efforts made to implement this strategy, it has formed, at the beginning of new century, the integration pattern that is focused on engineering contracting, trading oriented, backed by R & D and based on manufacture and processing.

In the past decades, CNCE has offered good services to domestic basic construction and technical upgrading project in chemical, petrochemical, petroleum, and environmental protection, energy, pharmaceutical, light industry and colored metal industry through organizing and taking part in development of important technical equipment, tendering engineering equipment, purchasing equipment and material, designing engineering, constructing anti-corrosion engineering, supplying turnkey projects and dealing with import and export trade, and good services to many overseas customers through dealing with import and export trade. It has obtained accordant recognition from domestic and overseas employers and customers, and been awarded many prizes by the State and its higher up government for the reasons above.

Beijing based CNCE, has 150 staff members in its headquarter.
